Ferrelview accepts water commissioner resignation; officials cite infrastructure updates and ongoing KC Water studies

The Village of Ferrelview Board on April 14 accepted the resignation of Water Commissioner Shondreka Burney, which City Administrator April Baxter said was received March 25, 2026. Trustee Grant Lewton moved to accept the resignation; the motion carried on a recorded 3-0 vote.
City Administrator update: Baxter reported that Bart's Electric recently installed the meter pedestal for a master-vault sump pump as part of ongoing improvements to the water system. She said two locks will be purchased and billed to the Water Department to secure the power supply.
KC Water and data-center concerns: Chair Elizabeth Damm gave a brief update on a March 31 KC Water Services meeting and said the utility intends to host the meeting annually to build rapport with wholesale customers. Baxter said she asked KC Water about protecting wholesale water customers in areas with data center development; according to the minutes, KC Water "are looking at several studies in areas where data centers are currently functioning" and will continue to study impacts as development continues. Audience member Quentin Enriquez, who said he has worked on several local data center developments, told the board he is concerned about future service and possible effects on water rates.
