Northwest Arctic Borough Assembly certifies Oct. 1 election results, swears in mayor and two members

Mayor Dickie Moto recommended the measure "do pass." Member Elmer Armstrong Jr. moved to approve Resolution 24-42; Member Lincoln-Carr seconded. The resolution passed unanimously by roll call vote.
The Borough Clerk administered the oath of office to Assembly Member Elmer Armstrong Jr. and administered the oath to Mayor Dickie Moto. Reid Magdanz was sworn in telephonically. The certification and swearing-in completed the seating of officials following the Oct. 1 election.
The meeting began with a roll call that listed Dood; Lincoln-Carr; Reid Magdanz; Miles; Cleveland Sr.; Elmer Armstrong Jr.; Derek Haviland-Lie; Craig McConnell; Delores Barr; and President Nathan Hadley Jr. as present. Member Armstrong moved to excuse Austin Swan Sr., Raven Sheldon and Walter Sampson; Member Lincoln-Carr seconded and the excusal motion passed, establishing a quorum.
Members also approved the meeting agenda by motion of Member Lincoln-Carr and a second from Member Derek Haviland-Lie. During the public comment period Marie Greene offered brief remarks apologizing for not attending in person, congratulated re-elected officials and referenced VIF applications (details not specified in the record). Several members offered congratulatory remarks; Member Reid Magdanz asked for a careful review of committee assignments and suggested aligning committee chairs with regional needs.
The Assembly adjourned at 1:42 P.M. on a motion by Member Lincoln-Carr and a second from Member Elmer Armstrong Jr.
