Cole County approves ADA-compliant exam table and scale purchases for health department

The health department presented vendor quotes (vendors on state contract) and said the cheapest option identified for the exam table and chair would cost about $11,423.54. Because the requirement was not anticipated in this year’s budget, staff asked the county to cover the equipment cost; the WIC program and Medicaid administrative funds will pay for the portable wheelchair-accessible scale, which staff cited at approximately $3,550.
Commissioners discussed the timeline and legal obligation; staff said the compliance deadline is August 9. A motion to approve purchase of the required equipment and a separate motion to approve purchase of the scale with WIC funds were moved and approved by voice votes.
Staff noted they will work on appropriate budget transfers and consider whether the purchases will be treated as contingency requests or capital-improvement expenditures during the upcoming budget process. The commission recorded no roll-call tallies in the meeting minutes for these votes.
