The Select Board on April 16 accepted a $30,000 drinking-water infrastructure grant intended to document and locate previously undocumented service lines, and authorized the required certificate of vote that will permit the chair to execute the grant agreement.
Town staff said the grant money will primarily support legwork to map and document service-line records and, where necessary, targeted excavation to determine material types at curb stops. The presentation noted that rural-development and other funding streams differ in character; in this instance the town took a $30,000 grant but did not pursue a principal-forgiveness option because it would have required a town meeting warning that could not be scheduled in time.
A motion to approve the certificate of vote (identifying the chair as the signatory for the grant as required) passed on a 4-0 voice tally. The board asked staff to ensure required grant paperwork is executed within the programs timing requirements.
