Bristol Select Board adopts modest increases to water/sewer connection fees; effective April 1

During a public hearing on April 16, the Select Board approved adjustments to several water and sewer fees that the town said are designed to cover higher material costs for meter setups, taps and curved-stop connections.
An agency official presenting the proposal said the changes would not increase base water or sewer rates for existing customers but would apply to new connections and certain tap operations. The presenter said changes include a modest increase to the curved-stop connection charge (about $45) and per-unit impact fees tied to meter sizes; charges for taps larger than two inches will still require third-party contractors because the town does not perform those installs in-house.
Board members asked when the fee changes should take effect. A member asked for an April 1 effective date; the board adopted the updated fees and recorded the approval (motion by Scott, second by Don) with an announced vote of 4-0.
The board and staff said they will post the revised fee schedule on the town website and notify affected customers before larger connection projects proceed.
