Beacon Falls parks commission finalizes summer events schedule, postpones regatta

At its June 22 special meeting the Town of Beacon Falls Parks & Recreation Commission reviewed and confirmed logistics for several summer events and program operations.
In public comment Justin Jarnigan, representing RACBL, said he is "still trying to get Bry to figure out the door code" and asked about a fuse update; he also noted the Sugar Shack will open for camp, possibly on Fridays, and that RACBL will set up for Family Fun Day on July 11 around 5 p.m. The commission did not record a timetable for resolving the door-code issue; Victor Santos said he would reach out to Steve Moffat.
The commission rescheduled Family Movie Night for Aug. 8 with a rain date of Aug. 15 and confirmed that concerts will skip June 24 because of carnival week and resume afterward. Victor Santos said fireworks preparations are largely complete but the ice-cream vendor All Star needs to provide an updated certificate of insurance because their current COI expires in June; he also confirmed parking approval at Woodland.
On the Cardboard Boat Regatta the commission agreed to put the event on hold this year because participation levels have been low; organizers will offer canoes and kayaks as alternatives and will explain the postponement to attendees who inquire. The Safety Fair vendor outreach is underway, Paw Patrol characters were approved, and the Sugar Shack will operate on Safety Fair day. The commission set a Tag Sale for Oct. 3 (with neighborhood maps produced by the library) and scheduled a Halloween Hayride for Oct. 18 with a rain date of Oct. 25.
The meeting included routine operations items: the Pent Road water bottle filler arrived missing several parts that have been shipped and will be installed once complete; the commission discussed the AED cabinet installation at Pent Road and plans to coordinate training and scheduling with leagues and the fire department once the cabinet is in place.
The minutes record no contentious debate; most items were operational updates or scheduling decisions. Follow-up items assigned in the minutes include obtaining missing parts for the water filler, securing an updated COI from All Star, and clarifying facility access with Public Works.
