Hamilton board highlights growth in career-and-technical education; youth apprenticeship enrollment rises to 44

The Hamilton School District Board of Education on May 6 approved the districts Education for Employment plan after administrators presented year-over-year growth in career-and-technical education metrics.
A district presenter summarized the data: "We have increased the amount of students that are in CTP programming from 1,113 to 1,152," the presenter said, and concentrators rose "from around 30" to about 60. Industry-recognized credentials increased from 130 to 161, work-experience participation grew from 162 to 177, and youth-apprenticeship enrollment jumped to 44 students from single digits in prior years. The board voted to adopt the plan for 2025-26.
Administrators described how the district has leveraged partnerships with area employers and Waukesha County Technical College to expand dual enrollment, transcripted coursework and industry pathways. The board also approved continuing participation in the Perkins consortium; administrators reported the districts Perkins allocation for 2025-26 is $16,799 (down from $19,376 in 2024-25), money earmarked for CTE software, supplies and materials.
Board members asked about program access and equitable recruitment for nontraditional pathways. The presenter said summer efforts will include revamping academic and career liaison roles at Templeton Middle School and the high school to make pathways "meaningful and build on each other." Trustees also discussed expanding female enrollment in architecture, construction, IT and manufacturing pathways.
The board approved related extended learning funding opportunities and directed administration to continue tracking career-readiness metrics for future reporting.
