Council authorizes assignment of prosecutor services contract to new legal entity

A city attorney or legal staff member noted the assignment requires explicit approval under the existing contract language, and that City attorneys will prepare and review the assignment instrument. A council member moved to authorize the city manager to execute an assignment of the contract from Ivers and Miller Law to Miller, Castleton and Flynn, LLC. The motion was seconded, put to a voice vote, and passed unanimously.
Council members indicated the assignment is intended to be administrative—maintaining continuity of services—rather than a substantive contract renegotiation. The draft assignment language will be prepared by the city’s legal team for review and execution.
