Board approves Brown’s Beach visitor parking; staff says funds are in the budget

The Village of North Hudson Board of Trustees voted July 7 to approve a change of use to add a visitor parking area at Brown's Beach on Park Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North.
Staff member Gina told trustees the parking plan includes six regular spots and one handicap space and that funds for the work are available in the village budget. "We have 20 left, 20,000 left, and the board and finance approved 47 initially," Gina said, describing amounts already spent on related remediation and the remaining funds available for completion.
Gina also clarified that erosion observed near the stairs and retaining-wall project is being addressed with the developer under warranty and is separate from the proposed parking work; some trustees said alternatives such as striping on 3rd Street North could be considered as less-costly options for easing neighborhood parking pressure.
The motion to proceed with the parking-area change and related work carried on a unanimous voice vote. Trustees asked staff to continue monitoring erosion and to proceed with the approved design.
Next steps: Staff will move forward with the parking-area implementation consistent with the approved plan and budget; the design materials referenced in the packet are available for review.
