Board receives DIAB appointments and PCAC report; new PCAC leadership announced

At the July 9 meeting the board heard the Disabilities Issues Advisory Board appointments effective July 1, 2026, and a Parent and Community Advisory Council (PCAC) report covering Feb–June 2026 that announced new PCAC executive leadership and district representatives for the new term.
Board member Brown presented the Disabilities Issues Advisory Board (DIAB) report and announced members selected to serve two-year terms effective July 1, 2026. Brown listed appointees by district (Irma Cottrell — District 1; Patrick Joseph — District 2; Erica Robinson — District 3; Brandon Newsom — District 4; Don Johnson — District 5; Theresa Smith — District 6; Bridal Patrick — District 7; Ryan Nicole Reed — District 8; Trisha Dorsey — District 9), named Nicole Jones as the bargaining unit representative, and said the Office of Special Education designee is Tranel Bowman and the ADA compliance representative is Steven Alford.
Board member Shaundrea Jackson Saunders delivered the Parent and Community Advisory Council (PCAC) report summarizing council engagement from February through June 2026, including presentations on the district strategic plan, resource-alignment activities, organizational transformation and climate-and-culture survey results. Jackson Saunders announced PCAC executive committee leadership for the term (Chair James Williams; Vice Chair Will Bronson; Recording Secretary Candace Perkins) and listed district representatives who will serve as liaisons to the council for the upcoming term.
Both committee reports were accepted by the board by no objection.
