The chair acknowledged the timing concern: "I have a concern... they've already expended this," he said, noting the board’s policy that purchases ideally follow proper purchase‑order procedures but emphasizing the safety rationale that made the situation less contentious.
On the budget, the board accepted the July–August 2025 budget transfer report as informational. Miss Headings reminded the board that the district’s annual reserve policy (2.5% of the budget) currently calculates to $938,450; unspent reserve amounts revert to revenue for the next fiscal year if not used by June 30.
What’s next: The finance committee will follow up on flagged unused federal professional development funds and will host guest speakers (IDA, new grant manager and auditor) in the coming committee meetings to provide more detail on grants and audits.
