Marion County superintendent reports facilities work, 134 AP qualifiers and 123,239 summer meals distributed

The Marion County superintendent (speaker 7) told the school board the district has several facilities projects underway, including a newly paved and striped bus garage parking lot and work preparing the ATC site for renovation and student use. The superintendent described additional parking-lot expansions near the softball and soccer complexes and said a concrete board and other site work are in progress.
On academics, the superintendent reported that Marion County High School students produced 134 qualifying scores across nine different Advanced Placement exams. On student nutrition, the district’s school-nutrition staff has completed its sixth summer meal distribution and, the superintendent said, has distributed 123,239 meals so far this summer. The superintendent congratulated Jennifer Wheeler, director of child nutrition, who was named a 2026 Summer Hunger Hero by No Kid Hungry and will be recognized by Feeding Kentucky on July 29.
The superintendent also announced that Tyler Wethington has been named head coach of the Marion County High School boys basketball team and noted continued work on facility upgrades and preparations for the upcoming school year.
Board members responded with thanks and congratulations; no substantive policy action was taken as part of the report.
