Select Board appoints a string of volunteers to town committees, including Affordable Housing Trust seat

At its June 30 meeting the Dennis Select Board interviewed and appointed volunteers to multiple town committees, unanimously approving appointments that included a full-term opening on the Affordable Housing Trust and seats on boards for conservation, planning, libraries and aging services.
The Dennis Select Board on June 30 interviewed a slate of volunteer applicants and moved to appoint multiple residents to town boards and advisory committees.
Bethany Kassinguda was the first candidate interviewed for a vacancy tied to the West Dennis Graded Schoolhouse; after introducing her background in school committee work and local event coordination the board moved to appoint her to a term ending March 31, 2029. Chair Carlin Carey welcomed her and said appointees will receive guidance on swearing-in and conflict-of-interest rules by email from the town administrator’s office.
Jennifer Goodwin, who said she lives in Dennisport and described experience that includes MassDOT work and family caregiving, was appointed to the Advisory Committee on Disabilities for a three-year term ending March 31, 2029. Paolo Rodriguez and Elias Baer both interviewed for the Affordable Housing Trust; after questions about availability and overlapping interests the board appointed Paolo Rodriguez to the Affordable Housing Trust full-term vacancy (term to expire March 31, 2028).
Other appointments made by unanimous votes included Andrew Platt to the Conservation Commission; Anne Allen Lawler and Alan Tuttle to the Council on Aging; Trudy Bergman to the Dennis Library Board (full term) and Polina Polinski as library alternate; Michael McGee to a full-term Planning Board seat and Polina Polinski as a planning alternate; and Jim Zinnell to an alternate seat on the Tourism Committee. For the Shellfish Committee alternate vacancy, the board appointed Dennis McGee (one abstention was recorded).
Several board members praised the depth of applicants and encouraged those not appointed to continue to attend meetings and reapply for future openings. Carlin Carey reminded newly appointed volunteers that they will receive instructions by email on swearing in, Open Meeting Law obligations and committee guidelines.
The board repeatedly described committee service as an important way for residents to contribute to municipal life and said staff will follow up to ensure appointees receive onboarding materials.
