Contractor: Honeoye CSD capital-improvement work progressing; demo nearly complete, no major budget surprises so far

Bill Christensen of TAMCO Management Group updated the Honeoye Central School District Board of Education on the capital improvement project, reporting steady progress and no major financial surprises so far.

Christensen said the project is in roughly its second week of major construction. "Most of the demo is going to be completed by Friday," he told trustees, noting significant interior work — ceiling tiles removed to provide access for HVAC, electrical upgrades, and openings cut for ductwork and plumbing. He said the playground demolition is about three-quarters complete and the canopy footers at the main entry are expected to start soon.

The contractor reported the gym ceiling and ductwork work were underway and anticipated HVAC components and fire dampers were on-site. Submittals were "about 85% through," Christensen said, a milestone he described as favorable compared with typical public-project benchmarks. He cautioned that long-lead items such as bleachers and gym-floor materials could affect later schedule milestones but said he had not seen budgetary surprises to date. Pay applications for the first month have been prepared and are moving through architect certification and the district's approval process.

Trustees asked specific questions about gym-floor ship dates and volleyball stanchions; Christensen said he would confirm ship dates with manufacturers and coordinate final stanchion placement with on-site staff. He said quality-control measurements using GPS will be performed before critical work such as footings is completed.

Christensen offered to return with an update at the August or September meeting or to provide a written report if unable to attend in person.

No board action was required on the update; invoices related to the project were approved separately as part of the business agenda.
