Bristol council gives first reading to Comprehensive Plan ordinance

The Bristol City Council gave the City Comprehensive Plan its first ordinance reading Oct. 8, a procedural step toward formal adoption.
Community Development Director Jay Detrick told the council the Planning Commission recommended approval by resolution at its Sept. 16 meeting; the council held a work session on Sept. 26 and a joint public hearing Sept. 10. The final Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map were posted online on Oct. 3, 2024, as noted in the agenda packet.
Councilmember Anthony Farnum moved for the first reading of an ordinance to approve the City Comprehensive Plan by caption only; Vice‑Mayor Jake Holmes seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 4–0 (Holmes, Farnum, Nave, Pollard). City Manager/City Attorney Randall Eads read ORDINANCE 24‑16 into the record.
The first reading was conducted by caption in accordance with the motion; the meeting minutes record the procedural step but do not show a final adoption vote. Further council procedure would determine the timing of any subsequent readings or final adoption.
