Russell council approves South Main Street grant and multiple routine items in unanimous votes

Councilmember Caleigh Befort moved to rezone certain lands from R-1 single-family residential to Planned Unit Development (PUD); Councilmember Lisa Anstaett seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The consent agenda was approved earlier in the meeting (motion by Councilmember Dustin Madden; second by Councilmember Lisa Anstaett) and included the Feb. 18, 2025 council meeting minutes, contractor licenses, and renewals of KMEA Director certificates for Dave Sturgeon and Kayla Schneider. Councilmember Brad Wagner moved to set the Annual Community Clean-Up Day for April 5, 2025 (9:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.) and Councilmember Caleigh Befort seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
City Clerk Ashley Mai reminded councilmembers that the filing deadline for the 2025 council election is noon on June 2, 2025 at the County Clerk’s office.
