Seth Young, superintendent of Anderson 01, gave a brief July update at Palmetto High School Stadium describing summer facility work, funding and the district calendar.
“We're replacing the visiting bleachers with, just a big upgrade. It's gonna be more capacity here at the Palmetto Stadium, and we're gonna have steps and handrails and much safer setup for our fans when they come to the games here,” Young said, describing the stadium project.
Young said roofing and HVAC projects are also under way at schools across the district and that those projects are being paid for with the voter‑approved local option sales tax passed approximately 15 years ago. He framed the tax revenue as allowing the district to complete capital work during the summer months to maintain and update facilities.
On the school calendar, Young announced teachers are scheduled to return on July 29 and students' first day is Aug. 6. He said the district looks forward to continuing “the tradition of excellence” academically and in extracurricular activities as the year begins.
The remarks were a short informational update rather than a request for board action. Young closed by encouraging the community to enjoy the remaining weeks of summer; no formal motions or votes were recorded in the transcript.
