The Providence School Board voted Jan. 7 to adopt a resolution committing to quarterly regional community meetings across five district regions. The meetings will be hosted in pairs by board members and held in community-based locations to share district priorities, gather structured feedback and increase trust.
Vice President Newman described the convenings as roughly two-hour, family-friendly sessions intended to center community voice and build shared understanding. The board discussed formats (quarterly vs. monthly), logistical support (materials and flyers) and pairing board members to create capacity.
The motion to adopt a resolution committing the board to quarterly regional meetings was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members noted the meetings will be flexible in format and will include staff support to produce consistent materials for regions.
