Board elects Richard Renaud as president; Jennifer Quinn sworn in as superintendent

The Brookhaven-Comsewogue Union Free School District’s Board of Education elected Richard Renaud president for the 2026–27 school year and administered the oath of office to Jennifer Quinn as superintendent during its July 13 organizational meeting.
Renaud was nominated from the floor and, after a second, the board approved the nomination by voice vote. After taking the oath of office, Renaud pledged to support the constitutions of the United States and the State of New York and to “faithfully discharge the duties of president of the board of education,” after which other board members congratulated him.
Superintendent Jennifer Quinn took the oath immediately after the board’s organizational votes. Quinn stated the oath and was congratulated by board members. “I, Jennifer Quinn, do solemnly swear … that I will faithfully discharge the duties of superintendent,” she said during the oath.
Why it matters: Board leadership and the superintendent set priorities and oversee implementation of district policy and the annual budget. The newly elected president and the sworn superintendent will preside over the district’s 2026–27 agenda, including the budget process underway through the spring vote.
The board’s organizational business included numerous other routine appointments and approvals for the upcoming school year; those motions were taken by voice vote and are summarized in a separate roundup of organizational actions. The board adjourned into executive session later in the meeting to discuss personnel matters.
