Bristol council issues proclamations and highlights local events, cemetery cleanup

The Bristol City Council used part of its May 13 meeting for ceremonial proclamations and community announcements, including recognition of public works professionals and the Cameo Theatre's 100th anniversary.
City Manager Randall Eads read a proclamation designating May 18-24, 2025, as National Public Works Week and praised a recent public works project that added a bus pull-off on Martin Luther King. Mayor Becky Nave and other councilmembers thanked Public Works staff for unseen but essential work. The council approved the proclamation 5-0.
Eads also read a joint proclamation recognizing the Cameo Theatre's 100th anniversary and recounted the theatre's history and recent renovation; Councilmember Michael Pollard moved approval and the council approved the proclamation unanimously.
In her mayor's minute, Mayor Nave congratulated 2025 graduates and invited the public to a Bristol Citizens' Cemetery cleanup on May 24 from 8 a.m. to noon, noting progress led by Reverend Nophlin and encouraging volunteers to participate. Vice-Mayor Jake Holmes highlighted community events including a Bristol Rhythm opening and a free "Mini-Golf with a First Responder" event on July 1.
These items were presented as ceremonial and informational; no further council actions were required beyond approval of the proclamations.
