Curtis Mink, a life member of the Bristol Lot Savings Crew, told the Bristol City Council on May 27 that the rescue squad faces an urgent funding shortfall and could close within 90 days if the situation is not addressed.
Mink described the group's funding mix — Medicare reimbursements, a one-letter fund drive, estate donations and casino donations — and said those revenues are no longer sufficient to sustain operations. He said the rescue crew has 33 employees, a mix of career and volunteer staff, and that the organization has struggled with financing since a 2018 change that reduced funds available from EMS business operations.
Mink urged citizens to donate and called for creation of an EMS committee to study the problem and report back to the council. He framed the issue as a public‑safety concern and warned that without new revenue streams the rescue squad's ability to serve the community is at risk.
The council did not take formal action on the request during the meeting. The item was raised during the public comment portion of the agenda.
