At its Dec. 10, 2024 meeting the Canton Public School District Board of Trustees approved the district’s monthly financial items, accepted a donation and cleared multiple personnel actions.
Mr. Tony Foster presented the financial reports and requested approval of Claims Docket #26299–26454 and ratifications for Claims Docket #26288–26297, #26298 and #26306. The board reviewed and approved disposal of fixed assets (Exhibit 9.5), the Activity Fund Report for November 2024 (Exhibit 9.6) and the Financial Statements for November 2024 (Exhibit 9.7). Dr. Shivochie Dinkins moved to approve items 9.1–9.7 and Mr. Peter Brown seconded; the motion passed with one recorded Nay from Mr. Lenderrick Taylor.
Under the consent agenda, trustees approved a $900 donation (check #10028474) from BankPlus to the Canton Career Center; Greene Education Services to provide teacher coaching and training; playoff incentive funds for Canton High School football coaching staff; and an equipment purchase not to exceed $17,000 for the Automotive Body Program at the Canton Career Center. Consent items 11.1–11.7 were approved unanimously.
On personnel matters the board approved leaves of absence, accepted a resignation effective Nov. 4, 2024, and approved reassignments and employment recommendations including Mylinda Phillips and Nikita Sample as teachers for the 2024–25 school year. The personnel bundle (items 12.1–12.16) was moved by Mr. Peter Brown, seconded by Mr. Glen Lacey, and approved unanimously.
