The Town of Caledonia Board of Aldermen on Jan. 6 approved routine municipal and water-department expenditures and accepted a staffing recommendation from the water department.
Alderman Jason Chrest moved to approve General Town bills totaling $2,435.01 for December, with the condition that all charges conform to the adopted budget line items and state purchasing laws; Alderwoman Jacque Furnari seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Town Clerk Donna Glasgow had presented the Privilege License report for December, which the board also approved by unanimous vote.
Water Department Manager Brad Box presented the water and sewer department report and bills. On motion by Chrest and seconded by Alderwoman Tammy McCool, the board approved Water Department bills totaling $107,504.65 for December, conditioned on conformity with the budget and state purchasing laws, and unanimously approved the department report.
At Box's request and recommendation, the board approved moving Hannah Daniel to a full-time position at $17.50 per hour; the motion was made by Chrest, seconded by Matt Chisolm, and passed unanimously.
Why it matters: the water-department expenditures represent the largest single set of charges on the agenda and the staff change affects the department's operating capacity. The board recorded all votes as unanimous on these items.
Next steps: approvals were recorded as final for the December billing and the personnel change takes effect as approved; no additional hearings were scheduled in the meeting minutes.
