Resident urges Byram council to study restrictions on small nitrous-oxide canisters sold locally

Winden described health risks he associated with misuse and asked the council to consider prohibiting sales in certain outlets or imposing age limits. “I stand before you all asking for a reasonable consideration to put some type of restrictions in place,” he said, telling the council he would like Byram to follow Oxford’s lead on drafting an ordinance.
The mayor thanked the resident and directed staff to obtain Oxford’s ordinance and asked the city attorney and staff to research options. Councilmembers volunteered to review materials and provide input as staff prepares draft language for a future meeting.
No ordinance or formal action was taken at this meeting; the item was set for staff research and possible future drafting.
