City of Brandon approves Jubilee vendor, landscape contract and multiple pay requests

The City of Brandon board approved a package of contracts and pay requests at its May 19 meeting, including a vendor agreement for amusement rides at the 2026 Jubilee, a professional services contract with Trent Rhodes Landscape Architect, PA, and multiple construction pay requests and closeouts.

Mayor presided over the meeting and said the board approved a contract with a midway/amusement vendor to furnish rides and concessions for Jubilee Days, April 30–May 3, 2026. The board also approved a professional services agreement with Trent Rhodes Landscape Architect, PA, to provide general landscape review services.

In consent-business actions, the board approved several construction-related payments and closeouts. The items listed by staff included a pay request from Hemp Hill Construction for $174,546, a UBank Construction final pay request of $54,857.62, and a final summary change order that showed a net credit of $89,521 and added 47 calendar days to that contract due to material delays, inclement weather and tie-in coordination. The board also approved an emergency invoice to Harvey Services for $9,407.14, a purchase of five lateral filing cabinets for $7,555 at state contract pricing, and a Benchmark Engineering and Surveying contract for the Grama Ferry Parkway shared-use path LPA project.

The board approved the minutes and the bundled consent items by voice votes; motions were recorded in the minutes (for example, the minutes approval was moved by Jerry Crane and seconded by David Farris). No roll-call tallies were recorded in the public record for those voice votes.

The approvals concluded with the mayor urging staff to continue moving projects forward and reminding the public of upcoming Jubilee planning.
