The council also approved a memorandum of understanding related to a county‑led upgrade of the 9‑1‑1 system. Town staff explained the town must allocate space and pay American Tower for newly located equipment (an estimated $966.03 per month); Eastern Shore 9‑1‑1 will reimburse the tower‑space charges monthly to the penny. The only recurring town cost identified in the MOU was a $4,328 annual support/maintenance payment; staff noted the new arrangement would replace an existing roughly $12,000 cloud dispatch service and produce net savings.
On environmental grants, council approved the Parks & Rec committee’s initial recommendations to award the first round of applicants to the town’s septic local partners program; staff said about $800,000 remained available in the program and that selected applicants must complete additional qualification steps before final awards are issued.
