Betsy Abraham, chair of the Cleveland Beautification Commission, called the Jan. 8 meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. and said the commission approved the Nov. 2025 meeting minutes after a motion from Member Desira Warrington and a second from Member Adolph Hilliard; the vote was unanimous.
The commission reviewed budget activity for November and December 2025 but the minutes do not record line-item amounts. Members then addressed ongoing projects from old business: Abraham said two more signs will be installed in the Breezeway parking lot and that she had contacted Robinson Electric to request that the Breezeway lights remain on every night. Member Myrtis Tabb said she is gathering quotes for replacement flooring in the Breezeway.
Abraham said she is coordinating with Lisa Miller on a kiosk sign for the bike trail; once the design is complete, she plans to work with Cleveland Trophy on printing. The commission also discussed cleanup around the Cleveland entrance signs at the north and south ends of town and noted that planters have been placed around the downtown deck.
On new business, members discussed Earth Day outreach. The minutes list Earth Day as April 22 (the minutes contain a typographical error for the year); the commission has not set a firm event date and will print flyers once a date is decided. The commission noted Arbor Day is Feb. 13, 2026, and recorded that "Mary Anna" has trees available and that one tree will be planted; the minutes do not specify Mary Anna’s role or affiliation.
Members discussed setting up a memorial-tree fund through the Cleveland Development Foundation for families who want trees planted in memory of loved ones; Abraham said she would consult Cleveland Trophy about temporary signage options. The commission also agreed to send hanging baskets to Sarah at CS&S Landscaping so the company can prepare them for spring installation.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The minutes are signed by Chair Betsy Abraham.
