Mantua police: search-warrant executed without incident; two officers to graduate June 19; officer honored for life-saving response

Lt. Hauss reported the department has been clearing old property and evidence from storage and that the Camden County Prosecutor's Office executed a search warrant at a Norris Street residence without incident. He said the detective bureau identified an individual responsible for spray-painting trash cans at Ceres Park.
Hauss told the committee that two full-time officers currently in the police academy will graduate June 19 and that both were at the top of their class; he also said two Class 1 officers have completed the academy and are in the field-training program, and that Officer Julia Gehring was the class leader among the new graduates.
Hauss recounted that the department received a letter from a resident whose mother called 911 for a medical emergency; Officer Germscheid responded and the department helped save the woman's life, after which the resident presented Germscheid with a Special Olympics gold medal.
He also noted officers are completing required Miranda and Use of Force Addendum training now part of the curriculum required for police licensing.
