Public works staff told the board the city's mosquito sprayer has been in the shop for about four years and that staff has obtained repair and replacement estimates.
The staff member said a 55-gallon drum of spray chemical costs about $2,200 and would allow roughly a month of spraying at three nights a week; a new sprayer was quoted at about $16,400. Staff said they will contact vendors (including a company named Victor and others such as Vector) for quotes and part numbers and will try to determine whether the city's existing machine can be repaired in time for scheduled spraying. The board asked staff to return with cost estimates and schedule options for regular spraying, and staff agreed to try to report back by the following meeting.
No contract was approved at the work session; the item was informational and staff will provide further pricing and options for procurement decisions.
