Library officials report high usage and outline June summer programs
Summary
Central Mississippi Regional Library System representatives told the board the Brandon Public Library circulated more than 70,000 items in fiscal year 2024 and is running a June summer program with teen and children's events; branch manager Amy Lee invited residents to participate.
Mara Polk, a representative of the Central Mississippi Regional Library System, told the board the Brandon Public Library recorded 70,520 items circulated in fiscal year 2024, more than 85,000 visits and 32,221 cardholders. "We had 70,520 items circulated," Polk said, listing circulation, computer use and program attendance figures.
Polk highlighted patron counters recently installed and said the library saw more than 4,900 door counts in a recent month and over 2,900 visits in two weeks. She provided the board with a program lookbook and asked that the city consider meeting-room usage statistics if the mayor wanted those figures.
Amy Lee, branch manager of the Brandon Public Library, described the library's June summer program schedule and themes. "The summer program happens, of course, every summer. The theme is 'Color Our World,' an art theme," Lee said, and listed teen programming times and children's programs that run throughout June.
Polk and Lee thanked the board for support and invited residents to attend programs and use library resources.
