During the July 13 pre-council meeting, staff asked council to place several items on the formal council agenda for vote tonight.
The presiding officer introduced item O20726, asking council to authorize the city manager to sign a Jefferson County 'good neighbor' pledge requested by Daxko to finalize a lease in Birmingham. Staff said Daxko has been actively searching for suitable space in Homewood but needs the pledge to complete a lease elsewhere. The presiding officer said the item "is gonna go out tonight for voting" and council agreed to send it forward.
Council also agreed to put a resolution supporting a Friends of Shades Creek grant application to EBSCO on tonight’s agenda. Mr. Smith (speaker 3) said the resolution supports improvements to about 4,000 linear feet of Shades Creek between routes identified in the packet; staff confirmed the item will go out tonight.
Finally, staff presented authorization to accept a $5,000 grant award to the Homewood Fire Department (noted as coming from Commissioner Bolin). Staff described the award as a general-purpose equipment grant; councilors agreed to place that item on tonight’s agenda for formal action.
These items will be on the formal council meeting agenda; no final votes on these items were taken during the pre-council session.
