Chair Missy Zomber presided over the special meeting convened at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the MPS Administration Building at the request of the board president. The clerk conducted roll call and recorded that Directors Fonds, Herndon, O'Halloran, Seemson, Vanoy and Chair Zomber voted "Aye" on the motion; the clerk announced "That's 6 ayes" and that the motion passed. Directors Ferguson and Jackson had asked to be excused; Director Reza was not present at the moment the roll was called.
The board read three separate closed-session topics into the record before the vote: (1) employment matters requiring closed session; (2) conferring with legal counsel about pending or probable litigation; and (3) performance evaluations of the superintendent of schools, the board clerk chief officer, the office of board governance, and the chief accountability and efficiency officer. The chair said the board may return to open session to take action on matters discussed in closed session or otherwise adjourn from closed session.
