Major Darren Hood of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office told the council the substation has several active leaks affecting the drop ceiling and that some mitigation will be required after the roof is replaced. City staff said construction is expected to take roughly seven working days and the contractor could begin work around the end of August once permits and procurement steps are complete.
Survey services (Resolution 2026-42): Council approved Civil Serve as the primary consultant and DCCM Infrastructure Inc. as secondary for continuing professional survey services and authorized staff to begin contract negotiations under the consultant competitive negotiation statute (section 287.055, Florida Statutes) cited in the packet.
Neighborhood revitalization leverage (Resolution 2026-43): Council authorized using $50,000 of city funds as leverage in a Small Cities Neighborhood Revitalization Community Development Block Grant application for federal fiscal year 2025.
Sanitary sewer rehabilitation and pumps (Resolutions 2026-44 and 2026-45): Council approved a cooperative purchase not to exceed $60,350 for cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) rehabilitation of approximately 800 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer main, and approved the purchase of two replacement submersible wastewater pumps and guide-rail components for $31,200.96.
