Local coalition urges Greenlee County to expand naloxone training and free distribution

Members of the Greenlee County Substance Abuse Coalition told the Board of Supervisors they offer free naloxone training and distribution to county departments and residents and invited board support and collaboration.
At the board's call to the public, Theresa Campbell and Stephanie Collier, leaders with the Greenlee County Substance Abuse Coalition, described the group's work to strengthen prevention and community wellness and urged wider county access to naloxone.
"We provide free training on recognizing an overdose, administering naloxone, and understanding follow-up steps," Theresa Campbell said. She added the coalition distributes naloxone at no cost "to any county department or any community member who wishes to carry it." Campbell said the coalition will provide naloxone to the assessor's office and has already supplied the recorder's office.
Campbell described the coalition as a collaborative group that includes law enforcement, government leaders, health-care providers, parents and youth groups. She invited county staff and supervisors to contact the coalition for training and assistance, and noted monthly meetings on the first Wednesday (rotating between Duncan and Morenci) to encourage broad participation.
Board members thanked the presenters and welcomed further engagement; no formal board action on the item was recorded during the meeting.
