Commission hears updates on Promenade Park, Shell station and Focal Point renovations

The commission received updates on several local development projects during the July 13 meeting.
Staff reported that Promenade Park is nearing completion, with artwork and much of the landscaping in place and the park expected to open soon. The Shell station at Halsted and Grand River is completing landscaping and expected to receive its occupancy permit shortly, staff said. The Focal Point property has been sold to new owners who plan interior demolition and to create commercial space on the ground floor and residential units upstairs; permits for the upstairs units will follow.
Commissioners noted past variances and upcoming Zoning Board of Appeals items related to other downtown projects. No public comments were offered during the open public-comment period for general updates. The commission then adjourned.
