Board approves mastery credit policy and challenge form

The Teton County School District board voted to adopt Policy 2445, the district’s mastery credit policy, and the accompanying challenge form, Policy 2445-F, after a first reading last month.
Diane (Clerk) moved to approve both the mastery credit policy and the challenge form; the motion was seconded and the board approved the measure by voice vote. Chair (speaker 2) called for the vote and the board recorded unanimous support.
Board members praised the work behind the policy. One member said it was “very innovative” and credited Kristen and her staff for creating a pathway to ensure students can obtain necessary credits to graduate. The chair added the policy should help students entering the district receive the support they need.
The board signaled the policy will be implemented for the upcoming year and discussed logistical follow-ups during future meetings. No amendments to the policies were recorded during the final vote.
The board moved on to other business after approving the policy; the working meeting on July 28 will include additional policy work and implementation details.
