Dan, representing public works staff, told the board the agreement — chaired by the city of Chesterfield — now includes roughly 15 cities and was relied on during the May 2025 tornado response when another city lent Brentwood a chipper. “We have actually used it back in the May 2025 tornado event,” Dan said, describing the practical benefit of shared equipment and mutual coverage when equipment is in use.
Alderman Lockmiller moved that the board take a second reading; the board then perfected the ordinance and approved it by roll call. The ordinance becomes Ordinance No. 5208.
Board members characterized the agreement as a cost-effective way to share equipment and personnel among municipalities rather than each city purchasing duplicate assets. No fiscal appropriation beyond existing departmental operations was discussed during the meeting.
