The Tioga City Commission used its June 1 meeting to complete a series of administrative and financial actions.
The commission voted to accept the 2025 audit prepared by Rath and Mehrer. It also approved renewing a matured certificate of deposit for $5,000,000.00 at The Bank of Tioga for six months at an interest rate of 3.25%.
The commission approved a Tecta America quote of $3,883.00 to repair leaks on the City Hall roof and authorized the purchase of a 90-inch mower attachment from Bobcat for $8,862.00 to address equipment failures in the street department. Commissioners voted to advertise for the Chief of Police position until July 1, 2026.
On personnel policy, the commission adopted Salary Policy 2026-03, which establishes annual salary adjustment procedures and includes an in-step range of 6% and a requirement that supporting documentation be provided for any cost-of-living adjustments. The consent agenda — including bills, biweekly payroll, April financials, two planning & zoning items, gaming site authorizations for the Tioga American Legion, and a special event liquor license for Model Tavern — was approved by roll call.
During public comment, Josh Vachal offered to recommend a recruiting firm to assist with the police chief search. The meeting adjourned at 8:07 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for June 15, 2026.
