Board approves travel policy, CSBA membership and ROP course library; minutes corrected

At its July 13 meeting the San Bernardino County Board of Education voted on routine and action items, approving the meeting agenda and carrying a set of consent and action items after discussion.
The board voted to adopt the meeting agenda and later approved the June 8 minutes after trustees raised concerns about missing remarks and an inaccurate salary figure in the text. A trustee had objected that a paragraph listed the superintendent's annual salary as $832,922; trustees agreed to correct the minutes and approved them after discussion.
Under action items the board gave second reading and final approval to Board Policy 162 (Board Travel Policy). Trustees also approved renewal of the California School Boards Association (CSBA) membership dues for 202627-2027 and approved the Regional Occupational Program course offerings for the 202627-27 school year, followed by approval of disposal of federal surplus property.
Trustees asked staff to provide additional documentation with future agenda packets — specifically copies or itemizations of consultant contracts over $25,000 and clearer attachments for presentations so the public and trustees can review materials in advance.
'We do provide the contracts that definitely necessitate the budget revision,' a staff member said when asked whether contracts over $25,000 would be brought forward; staff confirmed that, in practice, they had been bringing material that necessitates a budget revision even when not legally required to do so.
All action items recorded votes in public session; the meeting minutes and agenda attachments will be updated with the corrections and the staff was asked to return with requested itemizations and clarifications.
