Select Board tables special events permit; keeps noise ordinance unchanged

Barbara Campbell, chairman of the Jackson Select Board, called the public hearing to order on Jan. 20, 2026, and moved to table consideration of a draft special events permit until after town meeting in the spring. Bob Thompson, selectman, seconded the motion and the board voted to table the item.
Campbell said the board received community feedback and wanted more time for review. "The special events permit will be revisited after town meeting," she said before making the motion to table. The board’s vote to table was recorded as approved by all present.
On the noise ordinance, Campbell told the board that changing the hours in the draft would not resolve existing problems. She moved to keep the noise ordinance as written; Frank DiFruscio, selectman, seconded the motion and the board approved the motion. "All approved," the minutes state.
The Select Board did not adopt any immediate changes to either ordinance at the hearing; the special events permit is scheduled for reconsideration in the spring following additional community input and the town meeting process.
