Perry Co. 32 board recognizes state qualifiers in athletics, academics, choir and band

The Perry Co. 32 school board opened the meeting by recognizing students and staff for achievements during the past year.
Athletics: The board honored Derek Martin for qualifying for the state golf tournament at Twin Hills Country Club, where he shot 79 and 81 over two rounds and finished 25th out of 92 in Class 3. Soccer honorees included Caroline Grimaud (All-State First Team, All-Region Defensive Player of the Year) and Ava Ernst (All-State Second Team). Baseball recognitions included Troy O'Keefe (All-State First Team pitcher) and academic all-state honorees Ty Peeler, Dalton Fritchey, Wayland Huber and others.
Academics & arts: Jacob Gaiman was singled out as an academic All-State honoree with a reported 4.0 GPA. Choir and band students — 21 choir members and 4 band members — qualified for the state Solo and Ensemble Festival at the University of Missouri in Columbia under the direction of Taylor Davis (choir) and Jerry Childers and Jacob Baggett (band); several students were present to be recognized by the board.
The board thanked parents, coaches and staff for their contributions and invited continued community support for the district’s student activities.
