Brian Crow, district manager for The Home Depot's Arkansas division, told the Hot Springs board the company will open Store 1408 in Hot Springs this fall.
Crow said the new store will be roughly 135,000 square feet, serving both do-it-yourself customers and professional contractors, and described the project as "an economic anchor" for the community. "Right now, it's looking at about a 100 to a 125" employees, he said when asked about staffing numbers.
Crow also described workforce development programs such as Home Depot's Path to Pro training and said the Home Depot Foundation has invested in veterans'causes nationwide. In board remarks later, Director Dudley Webb confirmed the store's opening date as Sept. 24 and that morning opening time would be 6 a.m.
The mayor and directors thanked Crow for the presentation; no formal city action was required on the announcement.
