Tioga commission approves up to $11,000 for dust control on 67th Street

At a special meeting May 7, the Tioga City Commission approved a contract for Braun Trucking to apply a dust-control treatment to 67th Street for an amount not to exceed $11,000. The motion was made by Commissioner Kyle Ralston and seconded by Commissioner Steven Dye, and passed on a roll-call vote listing five ayes: Ralston, Jaden Iverson, Fuson, Dye and Commission President Brett Rieniets.

Ralston told the commission the level of dust on and near 67th Street has been “challenging for homeowners and travelers,” and said Braun Trucking could perform the work within the next couple of days for the estimated cost. The transcript records the estimate as $11,000 and the proposed timetable as “within the next couple days.”

The commission convened at 5:00 p.m. and, after approving the dust-control contract, Ralston moved to adjourn; Dye seconded. The meeting minutes record adjournment at 5:02 p.m. The attestation lines in the minutes list Brett Rieniets as Tioga Commission President and Wendy Lenzen as Tioga City Auditor.

The roll-call vote recorded five ayes. The minutes also list Liz Pendley as participating remotely and name Chief Cody Hallin as a guest in the attendance line; the roll call that recorded the vote includes a “Fuson,” a name that appears in the roll call but not in the initial attendance line. The minutes do not specify whether the commission will fund the work from a particular account, nor do they record any public comment or discussion beyond Ralston’s statement about dust conditions.
