Tioga commission hears engineering proposals, orders cost estimates for baseball field change

The Tioga City Commission on May 18 heard an engineering update on the north baseball field and asked staff to return with cost comparisons after a request to shorten the new field.
Josh Reiner of Moore Engineering told the commission that Veit Construction is on schedule: the infield is nearly finished and topsoil and sod are being placed. Reiner said fencing materials reclaimed from the old fence are insufficient and that replacement fencing would cost about $5,748.75. President Brett Rieniets noted requests to shorten the new field to a 200-foot score and asked Reiner to evaluate whether shortening the new north field or shortening the south-field rehabilitation would be more cost effective; Reiner agreed to return with a change-order proposal.
Reiner also reported that the Tioga Fire Department acquired property north of its building and plans to asphalt a 20-foot driveway from the theatre area to Welo Street; the commission raised no objections. He presented design-and-bid engineering proposals totaling $601,550 for three projects: Signal Road Improvements ($215,700), 67th Street and S. Dakota Street Improvements ($208,800), and S. Dakota Street sanitary/water/sewer improvements ($177,050). The commission asked staff to estimate total project costs (engineering plus construction) and return at the next meeting.
