Board approves food-service contract raises, new pay rates and 225 Chromebooks purchase

Collective bargaining: The board approved a Food and Nutrition Services collective bargaining agreement covering 2026'28. A district presenter said the agreement provides a 2.5% salary increase across all cells each year, increased longevity pay, and higher employer contributions to the district's family medical plan (an increase the presenter described as $100 per month in the first year, bringing the contribution to $1,700, and $200 the following year, bringing it to $1,900). VEBA contributions were increased by $250 annually, and the board agreed to earlier eligibility in the district's 403(b) matching program (a 1% match after 4 years instead of 5; 2% match after 7 years instead of 8). The agreement includes a new section clarifying unpaid special leaves of absence. The motion to approve the agreement carried by roll-call vote.
Miscellaneous pay rates and recruitment: The board approved miscellaneous pay-rate changes for 2026'27, highlighting an increased pay rate for the health resource coordinator and creation of a school-bus driver trainee position to help recruit drivers who do not yet hold a commercial driver's license. The presentation said three rarely used positions will be eliminated due to program changes; the board approved the changes.
Technology procurement: The board authorized purchase of 225 Acer Chromebook Plus devices with management licenses through the Sourcewell cooperative for a total of $240,750 as part of regular replacement cycles; the motion passed by roll call.
Donations and schedule changes: The board accepted donations for marching bands and a shade structure (City of Roseville $225; Harry Wenger Marching Band Festival $1,200; Winona Steamboat Days $1,400; Litchfield Visitor Bureau $500; RDLS PTSO $25,657.97) and approved a revised 2026'27 calendar that moves a June meeting to June 28.
The board moved into a closed session on labor negotiations at the end of the meeting.
