At the end of the meeting the law director announced he had submitted a letter of resignation and will join the probate/juvenile/domestic relations court as a magistrate starting Aug. 1. He said he would officially resign at the end of the month and that an appointment process will fill the vacancy; the Republican central committee will later appoint someone to complete the unexpired term.
The law director thanked council and staff and said the city is in good hands with the administration and elected officials. Council members publicly thanked him for his service; no formal personnel action occurred at the meeting.
