The Lake County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a package of routine resolutions at its second regular meeting, authorizing several vendor contracts and accepting bonds tied to local development projects.
The board approved an agreement described in the record as with "Manik at Smith Group Incorporated" for the Department of Utilities and separate agreements with Bell Environmental Engineering Incorporated for 2026 engineering, environmental support and air-compliance services at the Lake County Solid Waste Facility. A motion to adopt each resolution was moved and seconded and carried on roll call.
Votes at a glance: the board approved a final estimate and release of retainage of $28,673.07 with Tucson Incorporated and accepted a three-year maintenance bond of $68,954.39 tied to 1-acre cell construction improvements at the county solid waste facility; accepted a three-year combined maintenance bond of $73,496.76 for Hidden Village Estates Phase 6 in Perry Village; and accepted a three-year combined maintenance bond of $21,385.69 for Booth Farms Phase 5 in Perry Village. The board also approved certification of unpaid water and sewer sums to the Lake County auditor for collection.
Finance items approved included payment of bills totaling $4,459,477.67 and approval of purchase orders totaling $2,634,255.53, both presented by the finance department and passed by roll call.
In administration business, commissioners approved a resolution appointing the board clerk and assistant clerk to attend certified public records training as required by Ohio Revised Code section 109.43. The board also appointed Kenneth Michael Benz to the Lakeland Community College Board of Trustees to complete the remainder of a five-year term expiring March 6, 2030; that motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
There was no extended debate recorded on the items; motions were moved and seconded and approved by roll call throughout the consent-style sequence. Commissioner Plecnik praised the board’s handling of public portion rules, saying the board maintains “a safe and open space for people to truly express their feedback for the county.”
The board adjourned to an executive session to consider personnel matters and the appointment of an employee or official; a workshop was scheduled to follow at 10:30 a.m.
Authorities referenced in the meeting include Ohio Revised Code section 109.43 for certified public records training requirements.
