The Lancaster Select Board on May 19 approved the Conservation Commission’s recommendation to appoint Samantha Sabean.
Selectman Kathy-Jean Lavoie told colleagues she had met with Sabean and supported her nomination. Selectman Lavoie moved and Selectman Leon Rideout seconded the appointment; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also handled administrative business. Tax Collector Charity Baker distributed the list of properties slated for deeding on June 6 and said deed waivers will be available for the board to sign; any properties without signed waivers will be deeded on the scheduled deed date. Regarding town surplus assets, the board agreed to reissue bids for a cruiser and a dump truck after earlier meetings produced one low bid for the cruiser and none for the dump truck. The board directed reissuing the cruiser with a $500 minimum bid and the dump truck with no minimum.
Why it mattered: the Conservation Commission appointment fills a vacancy and the deeding list is the procedural precursor to transferring property titles. The reissued asset bids aim to increase market interest and protect town value by setting a minimum on the cruiser.
