Jackson County to accept $500,000 ALDOT grant for County Road 93 resurfacing, will cover overruns

Jackson County Commissioners voted July 13 to approve an intergovernmental agreement and resolution accepting up to $500,000 from the Alabama Department of Transportation to resurface County Road 93 from County Road 262 to County Road 91.
The chair told commissioners the state grant is limited to $500,000 and that any deficiency or cost overrun will be borne by the county. County Engineer (speaker 5) explained the resurfacing plan and the need for proper compaction equipment and materials; commissioners also asked about including guardrails in the scope of work.
The resolution before the commission authorizes execution of the agreement by the county chairman and attestation by the county clerk. Commissioners approved the resolution and asked staff to coordinate project details, with the county engineer assigned to manage bidding, guardrail planning and cost estimates.
The chair said the county would execute the agreement and proceed with project implementation; the commission recorded the approval by voice vote and set project-signing and subsequent project coordination as next steps.
