Platte County recorder announces pilot to consolidate property records using blockchain technology

Platte County Recorder Christopher Wright told commissioners on April 6 that his office will pursue a public-private partnership with Balcony Technologies to integrate blockchain technology into the county's land-records systems.
Wright said the project would create a centralized property records layer and a Keystone dashboard that consolidates public record information tied to parcels or legal descriptions, and described the system as providing an immutable chain of custody for records. "We will be utilizing the same technology as the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, the Treasury Department, and homeland security," Wright said. He added he expects to bring a contract before the commission in two weeks.
Wright also said an internal vacancy and efficiency gains from the new system would allow him to return about $59,000 in salary savings to general revenue. He characterized the rollout as a continuation of the office's multi-year modernization plan and said he looks forward to presenting a contract for commission consideration.
